It’s A Sorta Goodbye…

Hey guys!  I’m going to be winding down on Mama Tattoo to focus more on Mama Tarot for a bit.

I'll be back...

I’ll be back…

Many of you know I’ve been a card reader for well over 35 years, and now that I’ve finally found the freedom that I needed, I’m going to be a full time psychic medium here on Long Island.

I still love tattoos, and tattoo artists, but I need to focus a bit on my own craft!  Please come join me at MamaTarot – I’ll still be complaining and whining an commenting on things, so you can do that with me there now.

Please come with.  The more the merrier!

I’d Like To Repurpose Myself Into Someone…Who Can Repurpose Stuff…???

Far and away, my favorite on this is the piano.

Now, of course this would come crashing off the wall, sending the shih tzus flying for the door and me probably beneath it.  But it does look cool.

This one, below, is my second favorite, and I believe my friend Steve from The A Room Studios, should do it.

Awww. He’s Sick. I Wanna Kill Him!

Joy joy

I’m flabbergasted. (And I can’t seem to get rid of that image of the happy birthday cake.  Pretend it says Happy Fucking New Year, okay?)

Hah hah! I’ve always wanted to use that word.

Now, I get sick on an average of 4 to 5 or even 6 times per year. I rang in the new year with a sinus/ear special infection, and have been recovering with the cursed antibiotics since.

My husband, who proudly proclaims that he’s NEVER sick, is just that. Sick. He’s got bronchitis, and as soon as he got the Official Seal of Bronchitis, he’s taken to having a mantra of “I feel so sick” and then “oh my God”, and occasionally, “am I gonna die?” The final question has had a change in answer since yesterday. I now tell him “yes, yes you will. It’s up to you if it’s sooner or later”.

Whining. Requesting all kinds of things. Being a total pain in the ass. Begging to have his temperature taken every 20 minutes.

But I’m a Buddhist, and I’m working on my compassion. I’m trying, honestly. I have to wonder what the neighbors think as I walk from the sickbed (bedroom) to the kitchen saying something along the lines of “Okay honey. I’ll get you more water. And then I’ll dump it over your fucking head if you don’t stop telling me how shitty you feel and how to handle our daughter from your bed!!!!!”

Do you know that yesterday was so bad that when my sister picked up Kiddo and I to go to Walmart, I was excited!!! I HATE Walmart with a passion!!!!

Ah, and on the final bit. I am now sick. Ugh. I feel so sick. Oh my GOD! Am I gonna die??

🙂

Happy New Year!!!!

Hey everybody.  Hope you’re all well, and happy and as stress free as possible.

We had a cute little blizzard this morning/last night, and everything looks so clean and pure and new!  Of course, that’s because I haven’t had to go outside to shovel or do any of the “real” stuff – just look out the window, and toss two winter coated shih tzus out the back door!

I would love to hear your plans for the new year.  Your wishes, dreams, dreads, whatever.  Will ya tell me??

Peace, Restored

Here is a follow up for those of you who are interested. I told you before how it pisses me off to be pissed off. And I was seriously pissed at my husband. Now, there is no doubt I will be again, but for right now, I am okay with him. I told him that I wanted an apology (a real one) and some flowers.

Instead, he bought me a new tablet, and then apologized to me in front of our daughter. It felt sincere and actually made me feel better.

So, all is forgiven….until next time!

The Tattoo Convention In An Aviation Museum. We Like!!!

So last week I got to attend the United Ink Tattoo Festival here on Long Island.  It was at our local aviation museum, and I have to tell you – it was a perfect place for it!  I’d never been there before, even though I live less than 20 minutes from it.  The Children’s Museum next door to it – yes, that I’ve been to repeatedly.

The whole thing was so well laid out and an old classmate of mine had an amazing booth from his music store which had the absolute most gorgeous acoustic guitars I’ve ever seen.  I swear I wanted to buy one, and I don’t even know how to play. Click the link if you’re interested – he’s got some very cool shit!

The rest of the layout on the first floor of the museum was just nice and easy to get through, to check out the books on the booths, and even to talk to the tattoo artists, who were all super friendly.  There were people there selling jewelry, shirts and tattoo supplies as well, and as you went up to the second floor and third floor, there was original art being sold – paintings, sculpture, etc!

I went with my friend Diane, who I also know since high school, and who had an idea for a tattoo, so we got to shop around.  She ultimately decided to wait and have her usual artist do the work, but seeing the reactions of the artists to her idea was in and of itself an education for me.  It really does boggle my mind that one concept can be seen in so many different ways by so many different artists.  It gets my blood pumping to hear what’s in an artist’s mind.  I don’t get jealous of that creativity, I just admire it.

One of the highlights of the day was to meet Shanghai Kate, one of the most revered female tattoo artists on this planet.  She was sweet, beautiful and generous with her time and knowledge.  I’m proud to say that I bought my copy of Tattoo Nation from her and loved it.  She invited me back the next day to hear her seminar, but the truth is I just didn’t have the money.  It still made my whole week though!

Diane and I were talking in hushed voices as a tattoo artist was working with a woman at a booth.  I mentioned to her that I would love to find a tattoo artist (in particular) to work with on a comic book concept.  The artist immediately stopped the tattoo he was doing, and told me he’d be interested!  I jumped for joy, we exchanged cards, and now I have to call him and see what we can create together.  I’m mad excited!

I will be back with more on the specific artists that I met and spoke to, but I wanted to give you a little bit of an update in the meantime!

I Want To Be Here. Dammit!

It’s a festival.  On the Queen Mary.  In California.

Great tattoo artists.  Amazing car show.  But, but, but….BAD BRAINS!!! DEAD KENNEDYS!!! THE STRANGLERS!!!! THE FLESHTONES!!!!

And Oh My God – IGGY AND THE STOOGES!!!  It’s like a ancient pseudo punk’s DREAM.  Of course, I can’t go to Cali.  I have my daughter’s field day tomorrow and other, you know, mom stuff to do.  But part of my heart will be on that ship, drinking tequila, getting inked and seeing the bands that helped me vent most of that crankiness out in my actual teen years!!!

Emerging Tattoo Artist!

This was done by a young woman who is clearly on the right path!  Her name is Shaunna, and she happens to be the daughter of a friend of mine from high school.  She tattooed this on a piece of silicone, and I think she did such a great job on the rose! That can’t be easy.  I hope she’ll continue to share her work with us – her artwork is particularly good and I can’t wait to see more tattoo work!

MamaTarot. That’s Me!

Oh I’ll still be MamaTattoo.  But now I’ve added something to that.  I’ve been reading cards since I was 10, which is the same time I had begun to hear voices.  Yes, I thought I was nuts.  But the voices were generally right, even if they were a little bit rude.

Step right up!!!

My goal is to stay home and be with Kiddo for as long as I can.  I have had no health insurance since losing my job a year and a half ago, and I’m okay with that part as long as I can provide for her.  And I think it’s time to return to my roots and read for people.  I’m good at it, and I don’t overcharge.  So when you have a moment, please check out my new blog at MamaTarot.  I’d greatly appreciate it!

My Home Town – A Hidden Former Nuclear Site?

This is the town that I live in.  I grew up here, left as soon as I could to head to NYC (with lots of weird stops along the way in Brooklyn, New Jersey, Upper Manhattan, Christopher Street and ultimately, back to Long Island and finally buying a house 2 blocks from where I grew up.

I cannot even begin to tell you about the loss of life that plagues my town.  I think this is probably why….and I didn’t know anything about it.  Until today.  I want to help spread the word about these two men and what’s happened to them and so many others.  Please feel free to share – thank you.  The article is below.
